Brütal Legend is a third-person adventure game with real-time-strategy elements from the legendary game director Tim Schafer, developed by Double Fine Productions for PlayStation 3 and Xbox360. The player controls the worlds best roadie Eddie Riggs who is voiced by Jack Black. He finds hisself transported to a mythical age of rock-fantasy world, inspired by heavy metal covers and music. Chosen to fight evil, he acquires a hot rod, a broad axe and a Flying V guitar which has the ability to cast magic spells as tools used for combat and transportation. The games protagonist is able to lead different types of troops of human resistance fighters, for example a group of headbangers that use their headbanging to fight demons or switch to the multiplayer mode. This game definately is a heavy metal fan-service to the highest degree.

The player has to prove his ability to exactly copy the rhythm of a short song by hitting a beat on the touchscreen of the Nintendo DS, for example by punching objects or plucking hairs out of an onion. Each of the songs are composed by the games composer Tsunku. Beating one level to go onto the next with a total of five levels and a remix level for every set, you get to meet tapdancing monkeys, rabbits bouncing off the nose of killer whales, baseball players and many more. The players score is figured by three types of hits, a perfect hit, a semi-hit where the player is slightly off and a miss. In the drum lessons mode you get teached to play the drums by Drum Samurai, each button except for Start and Select being a different part of the drum.
